Fernando Tatis Jr. was signed by the San Diego Padres in 2015 and quickly managed to make it all the way to Triple-A, making him one of the top prospects in Major League Baseball and is currently the superstar shortstop for the San Diego Padres. Let's take a look at how he got to where he is today.

Fernando Tatis Jr., nicknamed "El Niño", was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic on January 2, 1999. His father, Fernando Tatis Sr., also played professional baseball. When Tatis Jr. was just four years old, his father retired from baseball and became a coach.

Tatis Jr. started playing organized baseball when he was six years old. He played in the Dominican Republic until he was 16, when he was signed by the San Diego Padres. He made his professional debut in 2017 with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, a Single-A affiliate of the Padres.

Tatis Jr. quickly progressed through the Padres' farm system. He started the 2018 season with the Lake Elsinore Storm, a High-A affiliate of the Padres. He was promoted to Double-A in July and then Triple-A in August. In just his second season of professional baseball, Tatis Jr. had progressed all the way to Triple-A.

Tatis Jr. made his Major League debut on August 15, 2019, against the Colorado Rockies. He became just the second player in Major League history to hit two home runs in his debut, joining Gary Sanchez. Tatis Jr. finished his rookie season with a .317 batting average, 22 home runs, and 47 RBIs in just 66 games. He was named the National League Rookie of the Year Award.

Fernando Tatis Jr. has come a long way in a short amount of time. He has already accomplished a lot in his young career and is only just getting started. Keep an eye on this young star, as he is sure to entertain baseball fans for many years to come.

Fernando give his time and treasury to many philanthropic and benevolent organizations. Most notable is his involvement in the Pedro Martinez Foundation’s efforts during the COVID-19 Crisis. Tatis Jr joined 39 other Dominican baseball players in donating resources to support the Dominican Republic during this trying time. He also actively supports the CDC Foundation as well as the Boys and Girls Club of America.
